Silence of the lambs

I would like to direct readers to an online petition for "Cellular silence day". It's a novel protest against Messrs Ratan Tata, Sunil Mittal and Anil Ambani for their statements in support of Herr Adolf Modi as the next Prime Minister of India.

A related blog posting can be found here.

I believe Modi may indeed be an excellent CEO, he is believed to be a very competent administrator and not personally corrupt. I also believe he is the ultimate divisive figure in in the Indian polity and I hold him responsible for a state-sponsored massacre of innocent people solely based on their religion, in 2002.

So which one is the real Modi? Both are the real Modi. Which one will come to the fore if he is PM? Probably the good administrator. Can we forget the other side of him? Only at grave risk to everything India stands for.

Good. Thanks for posting the link. NDTV nor Kamath took this step: http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20090080291.

Your initiative must be appreciated by both.
Best wishes

Regardless of whatever he has done afterward, a mass murderer remains a mass murderer.

I was watching the video of Modi's interview with Karan Thapar in which he refused to talk about the massacre and walked out.

I hope that one day the endorsers of Modi will be able to justify the deaths of uncountable children, women and men.

While one would very much like to hate just NM, it is not really possible to be that selective. You will recall that it was Arun Jailtley who got him off the hook when the horror and revulsion was so great that NM was almost removed by the BJP leadership. And not to forget the famous remark of the great Atalji in Goa on how "Muslims never live in peace whereever they are." That is to say that it is not just NM, but just about all the goons that make up his political party.

Anant: Yes your point is well taken. Atalji's comment "Muslims never live in peace wherever they are" reminds me that Henry Ford, of Model T fame, wrote a book nearly a century ago titled "The international Jew: the world's foremost problem"... Am I the only one to perceive multiple ironies here?

Narendra Modi has outsmarted the other thugs in his party when it comes to spewing hatred. One of the goons who hit the headlines a few months back is Himani Savarkar, the president of Hindu Mahasabha. In an interview to Outlook, she opined:

'We must declare ourselves a Hindu rashtra where everyone is a Hindu. Anyone who isn’t should be declared a second-class citizen and denied voting rights. Those who have problems with this should leave and settle in other countries.'

I have been personally acquainted with many people who advocate such ideas and Narendra Modi is their most revered icon.

Thanks for that concise summary of the latest on NM and India Inc. Hopefully a lot of India will sit up and take notice of dangers in such endorsements
