Colaba, did so in 1975, I happen to know (in every sense of the word) the courageous lady who, with one of the four, made the return trip. The car had been impounded by Indian customs (so the trip probably ended in Amritsar rather than Colaba), and needed to be driven back to avoid punitive duties. Again: Kyber Pass, Allahabad, Kabul, Kandahar, Herat, Mashhad, Tehran, and all that, with the Indian again being required to overfly Pakistan and go directly to Kabul, not collecting £200 on the way. The lady had to do the Pak transit all by herself, helped in the end, however, but an English couple, who are friends to this day. Ah, memories!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-538874342968130652.post-84791333804217961212012-03-13T01:34:35.377+05:302012-03-13T01:34:35.377+05:30Hilarious!Hilarious!FinanceMyPhysichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17374647854091194038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-538874342968130652.post-75965459216720487892012-02-23T15:45:57.807+05:302012-02-23T15:45:57.807+05:30Enjoyed the write-up. Reminded of some of your colleagues who had actually done such a thing.

It was not walking, though. They rather drove from Germany to India in a car, the four of them. A few years ago, I met one of them who felt very nostalgic at the mention of the event. He said he would try it again if he could get another chance.

And yes they could not make it through Pakistan even in those days. Three flew to Delhi, I think from Kabul while one of them drove through Pakistan. They all did however drive through the Khyber pass.sukratuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05561209097080871154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-538874342968130652.post-27599994155176396192012-02-08T02:43:54.925+05:302012-02-08T02:43:54.925+05:30Fantastic!
